“This isn’t about me; it’s about giving back to our community.”
Some of the Orange County’s greatest landscapes are threatened by increased road construction, oil and gas exploration. As Orange County Supervisor, I aim to protect these areas from inappropriate development, but we cannot achieve our goals alone.
Orange County needs an experienced and bold leader to tackle the full range of economic, environmental, educational and security challenges we face today. Our next Supervisor must have extensive experience working with local, state, and federal officials and also share the life experiences of working people. I do, and that’s why I am the best candidate for the job.
My immigrant parents chose OC as their home and raised their seven children the Katella High area. I worked my way through Chapman University with the help of government and union grants, and I earned my MBA with a scholarship from the Anaheim Rotary Club. I know the challenges that working families face. My parents worked hard, valued education, and are the only parents in American history to send two daughters to the U.S. Congress.
That’s why I have fought passionately for OC for 20 years to improve education, reform healthcare, help small businesses, honor worker’s rights, build transportation and water infrastructure to protect this beautiful place we call home. I have earned a strong reputation as an effective leader and was chosen by Harvard University as their 2018 Advanced Leadership Fellow. I’ve also demonstrated independent judgment and courage when it mattered most: I voted against the Iraq War, the Patriot Act, and the bank bailouts, when few others did.I focused on protecting individual rights, saving people’s homes from foreclosure, and worked to ensure local businesses could survive in tough times.
I know how to build public-private partnerships to address our pressing needs. I secured over $500 million dollars in federal funding to build the world’s largest water recycling plant for OC and billions of dollars to widen the 5, 91, 22, and 405 freeways, fund research and development in the science and engineering fields at UCI, Cal State Fullerton, Chapman University, and Rancho Santiago Colleges. I’ve helped cities maintain their streets, upgrade aging water pipes, and fund police and fire programs.
As your Supervisor, I will fight for all of us, so that together we can have a brighter, stronger and more prosperous future. I humbly ask for your vote.
